B.Y.A.BECAUSE YOU ASKED contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
Should my student have homework each day? Homework is given on Monday - Thursday. Sometimes work is completed in class. However, please contact me if your child has trouble completing the homework assignments on a regular basis. If you are uncertain as to what assignment is due for the next day, please check their student planner or click on the Assignments link at the top of this page and it will take you to a listing of daily work. Additionally, students should be reading outside of the classroom 20-30 minutes each day. What if my child stays home sick or is absent for some reason? Please call the office and I will have work ready to pick up after school. If your child will be out 5 or more days, please contact the office for independent study asap. What do I do if my child forgets his/her lunch? Please leave it in the office and your child will be contacted. Am I allowed to bring treats for my child's birthday? Yes. However, we do not have individual parties. Parents are allowed to bring a treat to share with the others in class during the last 20 minutes of the school day. Please read the School Handbook for specific information regarding this matter. What if I need to speak with you before or after school? Parents are free to contact me before or after school in the classroom or at 730-7751. I am generally at school from 7:00 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. If you need to reach me at home, please phone before 8:00 p.m. May I visit the classroom at any time? Parents are always welcome to visit or observe. Please sign in at the Office first. The ONLY exception is when we are doing any State or District testing. May I volunteer in the classroom? ABSOLUTELY! I am always looking for a few good Moms and Dads. Yes. I can be reached at: rgreenfield@visalia.k12.ca.us. I check my e-mail each day so I should be able to respond to you fairly quickly. |
