RE: State Testing- Our site is scheduled for testing April 28th - May 9,
2008. State testing is mandatory per the state of California. Testing
starts in second grade. It is important that your child attend school for
all testing dates. When your child misses school during this time he/she
does not have the opportunity to take the test with the rest of the class,
and will have to take it on a make up day with another group of students.
It is also important that your child get adequate rest and eat a good
balanced breakfast so that he/she may do his/her very best on test day.
SECOND GRADE AWARDS ASSEMBLIES- Every other month we will have an assembly.
We will award Peacebuilder Awards, Perfect Attendance Awards, Student of the
Month for Reading, and Student of the Month for Math. You will also be
treated to a performance from one of our second grade classes.
The next awards assembly(and the last one for this school year)will take
place May 28th at 9:30 in the cafeteria.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART EVENT 2008
WOW-We had a great event! The students did a great job and everyone had a
great time. Students spent many weeks practicing and they worked hard on
their Jump for Heart posters. We had several winners of the jumping contests
from our own class. This year we were lucky enough to have many parents
participate. Some parents took pictures and video taped the students and
teachers jumping. I think the highlight for students was when the teachers
jumped for heart. Next year we will invite the parents to jump too!! Start
practicing:)
I would also like to thank the many parents who shared their personal
stories of heart attack survival. Many of you also donated money to the
AHA. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
Liberty took part in this fun event on March 20, 2008. It was sponsored
by the American Heart Association. Its purpose is to bring awareness of
heart health to students. Students learned many ways to keep their hearts
healthy by exercising, eating healthy foods and staying away from smoking
and alcohol. Students collected donations for the AHA and in return they
will receive fun age appropriate prizes. For more information stop by our
classroom:) OR check out the links section and check out the AHA website:)
Field Trips-**see note below
***********IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS- If you plan on attending field
trips and/or helping out this year-**you MUST attend a parent training class
with Mrs. Cammon. The next training will occur on April 8th at 9:30 am with
Mrs. Cammon or Mrs. Navarro. Parents will NOT be allowed to accompany
students on field trips without clearance from Mrs. Cammon. This is a NEW
requirement from our district. This is in place to ensure the safety of all
children. Should you have any questions regarding this policy call the
office and they will be glad to answer your questions.
