NEW POSTING! The December book report is based on a nonfiction book about a specific animal.
There is a report form which will be sent home on Monday, November 30th and is also posted on the
photo/docs page at this site. The report is due on Thursday, December 17th.
Since we are starting our Topic on Multiplication, your child should begin to memorize their
multiplication facts. I suggest that they learn one fact family at a time, starting with X1, x2, etc. When
they have completed all fact families up to X10 they can begin to mix them up during practice. It is
critical that they spend a few minutes DAILY to master these facts.
Homework will be given nightly, Monday through Thursday. Nightly assignments are NOT posted in this
site but can be found on the yellow Homework Record Sheet that is in your child's homework folder. A
Homework Assignment Sheet will be filled out each day in class. Parents are expected to review this
and make sure students have completed each day's assignments. Parents should sign the assignment
sheet each Thursday night to confirm that all assignments have been completed.
Long term projects will be posted with a due date on the website. A book report will be assigned at the
beginning of each month and will be due at the end of the month. The specific assignment will be
posted on the website. Check the Photo/Docs page for copies of long term assignments.
STANDING NIGHTLY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS are:
*DEAR - Drop Everything and Read 20 minutes per night. The Reading Record on the back of the
Homework Assignment Sheet should be completed each night.
*PRACTICE MATH FACTS! We will be working on addition and subtraction facts for the first few
months of school and then move on to multiplication and division. It is important to your child's
success in math to memorize their math facts so make this a 5-10 minute a day practice.
