Dear Parents,

Last Saturday, we held our biggest fundraiser of the year—the Back to the Future Dinner Dance Auction. I would like to extend a huge thank you to our chairs—Linda Conway, Becky Saltzman and Shawna Barretto—for their many hours of hard work and sleepless nights to make this a special event. I also know that there are numerous volunteers who work behind the scenes to make an event like this run smoothly. Just know that I appreciate the time and effort on everyone’s part who participated in some way to make the auction happen. God bless you all!

Teacher for the Day will be held this Thursday, May 24. Snacks and lunch will be provided and these students may wear Professional Dress and/or their school uniform. Congratulations to the following guest teachers:

This week is Student Council Final Election Week. Candidates have posted their campaign signs and are readying their speeches for this Thursday, May 24, at 8:15 a.m. in the gym. Elections will take place at recess with the new slate of officers announced that afternoon. Good luck to our candidates. We are proud of you. The induction ceremony of the new officers is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the church.

On the sports scene, congratulations to the Boys’ A volleyball team for a great playoff run. We are very proud of the boys for their sportsmanship and good behavior when representing St. Norbert. The boys presented the second place trophy to the school on Monday. Way to go boys! Speaking of sports, don’t forget that this Thursday, May 24, at 5:30 p.m., we will hold our Annual Sports Banquet. Hope to see you there.

I wrote last week that the Parent Guild Board was offering an opportunity for your child to be fingerprinted by volunteers from the Orange Police Department. Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled by the Orange Police Department. We are currently working to reschedule for next fall.

Don’t forget that Monday, May 28, is Memorial Day–a National Holiday. Neither school nor Extended Daycare will be in session.

The eighth graders are moving into their final days at St. Norbert. Tomorrow they leave for their retreat—please keep them in your prayers. Next week on May 30, we will hold the Baccalaureate Mass for them at 8:30 a.m. This is also the final all-school Mass for the year. Following Mass, we will have the eighth grade awards presentation in the church, the eighth grade brunch in the school courtyard and DC video in the Family & Youth Center. Later that evening, the junior high will enjoy the graduation dance. On Thursday, May 31, the students will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m. in preparation for the 2:00 p.m. graduation ceremony.

Have a great weekend,
Mr. John Loffer
