NAGLE AWARD-CALL FOR ENTRIES
Print a New Submission Form Here
It’s time once again for the Nagle Award! This award is given annually to a teacher of St. Norbert Catholic School who exemplifies the ideals of Nano Nagle, the foundress of the Sisters of the Presentation, the order of nuns that opened our school in Orange, California, in 1965.
Through this award, your students have the chance to give a wonderful end-of-the-year gift to a teacher. It’s also a beautiful exercise in gratitude for the loving dedication of our faculty members. All current SNCS students in kindergarten through eighth grade may nominate any SNCS teacher by completing a submission form they received in class. We’ve also posted one here for your convenience.
Students must simply describe how a teacher brings to life the ideals of Truth, Service, Family and Peace in his/her vocation as a Catholic school teacher. There is no length requirement. The recipient of the Nagle Award will receive $1,000 along with a certificate and lovely lantern (Nano Nagle was known as the Lady with the Lantern). The award will be presented at the final all-school mass (Baccalaureate ceremony).
This is not a school assignment, but an independent effort that comes directly from the children to our awards committee. Thank you for supporting this tradition through your conversation and guidance at home. The last day to submit nominations is Friday, May 31. Questions? Please contact Patty Bornhop at pbornhop@stnorbertchurch.org or 714/637-6822 x204.

GUADALUPANA SCHOLARSHIP
Application/Instructions/Questions & Essay
St. Norbert Catholic Church is again awarding three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors in St. Norbert Parish. This is a wonderful scholarship program that is supported by our Hispanic Ministry. To date we have awarded $20,000 and many of our recipients have been former St. Norbert Catholic School students.
Candidates are eligible if they: Have a minimum GPA of 2.5; are a graduating senior for an Orange County high school; plan on full-time attendance at an accredited postsecondary school (two year, four year, trade or vocational school) in a degree or certificate program for Fall 2013; are registered parishioner of St. Norbert Catholic Church; have demonstrated community service within the St. Norbert Community.
We will be considering awards for scholarships in up to three different categories, based on applications received: Scholarship A-Awarded for academic excellence and extracurricular activities; Scholarship B-Awarded to a student who is a first-generation college student;* Scholarship C-Awarded with consideration given to financial need.**
* Definition: First-generation undergraduates are students whose parents have never been enrolled in college, meaning the highest educational attainment for both parents was a high school degree or the equivalent.
** There is an optional question regarding financial need that must be completed to be considered for Scholarship C.
