FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How can my student get extra help for concepts he/she doesn't understand? I am available at lunch and after school for free tutoring Mon, Wed and Thurs. San Marcos also has free tutoring in room B-5 after school 3:05-4:15 Mon-Thurs. Students can also try the links to www.hotmath.com and http://go.hrw.com for extra help with their specific class. The back of both text books have extra practice problems, examples and answers to selected problems. What if my student needs more time to complete a test? Students who have specific accommodations and modifications will be given extra time as necessary. Are you giving more homework than the other teachers? I meet weekly with the other teachers of the same subject to compare homework, tests, and timelines. We all give relatively the same assignments. Students should expect at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours of homework per night as we are on the block schedule and have to cover 2 sections per day. This time will vary depending on the difficultly of the specific section and the student's prior knowledge of the material. I do not accept late work. I accept make-up work within the same number of days that a student was absent for excused absences only. If a student has a special circumstance such as a family emergency, they can see me privately for extended time. These emergencies should be few and must be accompanied by a note from a parent or guardian. What is your make-up/retest policy? Students with excused absences are expected to make-up missing tests within one week of returning to school. No retests will be given. What is the best way to contact you? Email is best ecutrell@smroyals.org Phone is also good but please do not call during class time for non- emergencies nor during 1st as another teacher is in my room that period. |
