FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How can I get a good grade in your class? Come to class. Participate. Do your assignments on time. Study. Learn. Your grade is made up of five categories (each worth 20% of your grade): participation, notebook, tests, projects, and homework. For more information about my grading policy, click on "Documents," and then on "Grading Policy and Expectations." You may turn in an assignment one day late for reduced credit. What if I'm absent on the day an assignment is due? For excused absences, you have one day per day absent to make up the work. For unexcused absences (cuts), you may not make up the work and earn a zero. Periodically, but you cannot bring a failing grade to a passing grade with extra credit. What's most important is to do all assigned work. Go to "Documents" and click on "Feature Films" for a description of an extra- credit assignment. Do you assign detention for tardies? Yes. If you come to class late three times, you go to the detention center at lunch or afterschool. Will we have fun learning in your class? That's the plan! Of course, to a large degree, "fun" depends on the level of your (and your classmates') participation in class activities. Do you give a lot of homework? Expect homework each day. Some assignments will require intense concentration and effort over days; others will be short assignments to turn in the next day. Do I have to bring my textbook to class everyday? No. Keep your book at home for use there. I will give you advanced notice if you need to bring your books to class. Click on the mailbox or "email" and send me your question(s). |
