I have been teaching at Santa Barbara Junior High since 1992. After graduating from UCSB in 1987
I spent 3 years teaching at Thompson Junior High in Bakersfield before moving back to Santa
Barbara. My wife Cathy is a teacher at Adams Elementary School & I have two sons, Ben (age 10) who
is in 5th grade at Adams Elementary & Sam (age 12) who is in the 7th grade at SBJHS.
To gain an in-depth knowledge & understanding of our country's past. When students graduate in
June they should be able to explain the "Big Ideas" of United States History & be able to recognize the
themes that link the past to the present. Writing & critical thinking will play a major role in this class
and will be emphasized throughout the year.
