| This page is mainly dedicated to your opportunities for Bonus Points.
Remember to never ask for BP, because the answer is no. AND if you ask how
many BP an assignment is worth, the answer is 0.
No late BP assignments are accepted--even if you are absent.
No BP awarded if the specific instructions for each assignment are not
followed.
If you need clarification on any assignment, ask me at lunch or after
school.
A MISSING ASSIGNMENT WILL NEVER BE REPLACED WITH BONUS POINTS!
NEW BONUS POINTS ASSIGNMENT!! GEOMETRY STUDENTS ONLY!!
I need some help with making some posters for the vocabulary from Chapter 3. Can you help? If so,
I will need you after school on Monday, November 17. HOWEVER, I only need about 3 people so. .
.you must write me a note and put it in the In Bin saying that you are available at that time. The first
3 notes that I receive will be the people to help. Thanks so much!
BP 1--Articles (Due date: before January 9, 2009)
The bulletin board dedicated to Math and Education in the News and in the
"Real World" is not so recent. Any time you find an article, editorial or
comic strip, advertisement and such (in print media--not off the internet)
related to mathematics or education in general, cut it out and turn it in.
Please be sure that the name and print date of the source is attached,
as well as the required heading.
BP 2--Postcards (Due date: before January 9, 2009)
The original idea to border the bulletin boards with post cards that I have
received did not work out as well as planned. I have more bulletin board than
border! I need more postcards!
Have friends, family and friends of family send me a location-printed &
postmarked postcard at school:
SaMoHi, c/o Ms. Holly Dreier, S-House Mathematics Teacher,
601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90405 USA.
Be sure that they include your name in the message so that I know to whom the
points go!
Of course, if you go on vacation, I expect one from you, too!!
TO CLARIFY: ONLY POSTCARDS THAT ARE POSTMARKED FROM THE LOCATION AND HAVE
THE LOCATION PRINTED ON THE FRONT ARE ACCEPTED FOR BONUS POINTS. See the
current ones for examples.
BP 3--Good to Do (Due date: before January 9, 2009)
One part of the bulletin board is dedicated to calendar math problems that I
find interesting.
You can turn in the complete solution for BP. Please do the problems on a
separate sheet of paper. Be sure to include the required heading and the
title of the poster and the number of the problem.
Only complete solutions will be accepted. They are worth varying amounts,
depending on the difficulty.
BP 4--Who Am I? (Due date: any time before it is changed!)
The other part of the Good to Do bulletin board has a poster of a
mathematician. However, the mathematician is only identified by his picture
and short excerpts of his life story. It is up to YOU to research who the
mathematician is!
You can turn in your correct answer for bonus points! In addition to the
mathematician's name, I also want a write up on HOW you figured out who he
was. Be sure to include any keywords, dates, etc. and sources that you
used. Be sure to include the proper heading.
You only get one chance at it--so be sure you have the correct mathematician!
They will be changed frequently, so look often!
