FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How can students and parents contact Ms. Lucas? Email is best: jlucas@nusd.org Voicemail: 892-2941 ext. 602 What can parents do to help Ms. Lucas? 1. Donate Kleenex 2. Check student planners, assignment sheets, and Snapgrades 3. Keep expectations of your students realistic and be aware of overachiever stress 4. Let me know if there are situations at home (I don't need details) which may impact your student's day at school 5. Understand that I always give students plenty of time to complete assignments. If your student tells you s/he has a big project due tomorrow, know the assignment was given days/weeks earlier. You can even check when the assignment was given on the Homework page of this site. 6. Understand that "My printer ran out of ink" is not an excuse - that's what email/binder paper and pens are for. 7. Know that students will receive homework daily and are expected to spend approximately 30-60 minutes a night on English and history assignments. 8. Know that I appreciate everything you do to encourage and support our students and me. What kind of cookies does Ms. Lucas like? Chocolate chip is always good. Black-eyed Susans are good too. (Those are the peanut butter cookies with Hershey's Kisses smooshed in the middle. (Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are even better.)) *Absent students who are able to do work should check this website or call their Study Buddies to get the assignments. If a student is absent for three or more days, a parent can call the office and request missed assignments. Parents: If you ask teachers to do this, please make sure you come pick up the work we so carefully took the time to put together. *When they return to class, students have as many days as they were absent to make up the work; after that it becomes a zero. *Handouts can be found in the "What We Did When You Weren't Here" box in the classroom. *Students should never ask the teacher, "Did I miss anything important?" |
