I am a native of Novato and an alumna of San Ramon Elementary School (back
then we were the Roadrunners), Sinaloa, and San Marin High School. I attended
Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, where I earned a BA in English
literature. I returned home to Novato and Sinaloa to work as a one-on-one
aide for two years. Then I went off to Sonoma State to get my teaching
credential, only to return almost immediately to Sinaloa to do my student
teaching. Luckily, I was hired at Sinaloa right out of the gate, so I never
had to go anywhere else. (I fear change.) All in all this is my thirteenth
year at Sinaloa. Another teacher was kind enough to point out that I've
spent more than a third of my life here.
On a more personal level, my parents recently retired to Eagle Point, Oregon,
but return regularly for Cal football games. (Go Bears!) My sister lives in
Alameda, works as a cost accountant and just got a puppy named Daisy. My
brother and his wife live in Alhambra with my nephew, Caleb Aaron Lucas (yes,
the initials spell CAL and no, it's not a coincidence). I live in Rohnert
Park with my precious cat, Hobbes. In my free time I enjoy reading, movies,
music, dancing, friends, family, grading papers and watching reruns of The
West Wing.
