| There are many resources available to students and parents at Steamboat
Springs High concerning financial aid. Two primary resources are:
- Seminars on financial aid - held in November and Dec and open to all
students and parents. These seminars provide an overview of financial aid
and how students apply for it. Offered 4 times by Mrs. Dudley
-Financial Aid Workshop - offered the first Monday in Dec. In this workshop
a panel of experts who work in financial aid come to Steamboat to speak to
students and parents. Open to all students and parents in Routt County. More
specific questions are answered about things like the FASFA, state and
federal grants and loans, and how financial aid offices determine financial
aid.
-Many free handouts and books in the Career/College Center for parents and
students to take and read.
-College Goal Sunday - offered the first Sunday in February after Super Bowl
Sunday. Held at CNCC in Craig. This is an opportunity to bring your family
financial information, go into a computer lab, and work with financial aid
experts. The goal is to complete the FASFA when you leave the lab, in about
2 hours. Free of charge.
-Local Scholarships - A variety of local scholarships are offered each year
to the graduating seniors from Steamboat Springs High. Seniors (no parents)
are required to attend a 1 hour workshop (offered 12 times) during Jan, Feb,
March or April. Most scholarships are due the Wed before Springs Break
(April 16 in 2008). However, there are scholarships that have earlier
deadlines. Check the announcements for dates.
