POST SECONDARY OPTIONS and CAREER AND ACADEMIC PLANNING
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL
CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER
This handbook has been designed for Steamboat Springs High School students and families who may be wondering: · How can I make the most of my high school years? · How do I best prepare and plan for a career? · What resources exist in Steamboat to assist me in career planning? · What are my post-secondary (after high school) options? · How do I make sure that I am keeping as many options as possible open for the future? · What do all those terms like GPA and class rank mean? · What standardized tests will be offered at SSHS and when? · What can I be doing to optimize my chances for getting scholarships in my senior year? · What extra-curricular opportunities exist at Steamboat Springs High School? · How can I be sure that my family is staying on top of all deadlines? · What can my family and I be doing to prepare financially for my college years? · What is the correct or best procedure to get into a college of my choice? · Are there things that will prevent me from getting accepted into college or getting financial aid? This information will come to you in small amounts through newsletters and announcements. You will also be able to access it at the Steamboat Springs High School guidance website. Anchor advisors will review various sections of this handbook with students over the course of the entire school year . A personal copy is available to each SSHS student so families can also become familiar with the material. Please put this information in a location where students and parents can access it as needed.
