PURPOSE OF CENTER

The Career/College Center is located in Media Center conference room at
Steamboat Springs High School. The center is usually open from 7:30 a.m. to
5:00 p.m.. Gayle Dudley is the career/college counselor and director of the
center.

The Career/College Center is a resource for students, parents, staff and
community to explore careers and post-secondary options. Many resources are
available on-line or hard copy. Additionally a variety of seminars are held
on a regular basis that cover a variety of topics, including the college
application process, career exploration, financial aid and others. The
Career/College Center is also the location for finding out about local
scholarships.

EACH SENIOR HAS A MAILBOX LOCATED IN THE CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER. This folder
is used to communicate with students about things that are important to
them, or specific to them. Such as, each senior is asked each year to fill
out an information sheet about their post-secondary plans, or lack of plans,
and to schedule a meeting with Mrs. Dudley. Once this is done, any
information that is received relevant to that specific student is put into
their mailbox, and they are expected to check this frequently. An example
might be a national scholarship that is awarded for students in the major
that the Steamboat student has indicated interest in. This announcement
would
go into their mailbox.

THERE ARE MANY RESOURCES IN THE CAREER/COLLEGE CENTER. THE BETTER MRS.
DUDLEY KNOWS A STUDENT, THE BETTER SHE CAN HELP THEM ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS.
