Principal’s Message As the finish line to the end of the school year quickly approaches, I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you the numerous end of year activities taking place at SSMS. We are excited to offer these “outside the classroom” learning opportunities to our students. Please call the main office if you would like further information about any of them. *May 4-Our eight SSMS Swedish Exchange students return to Steamboat Springs after spending three weeks abroad. *May 3 & 4- EOS (Everything Outdoor Steamboat) student mountain bike trip to Fruita, Colorado. *May 8- Last dance of the school year 7:00-9:15 p.m. *May 8- EOS tree sale pick-up *May10-16-Twenty students traveling to Crow Canyon Archaeological Center for hands-on learning experience. *May 17 & 18-EOS rock climbing trip *May 18-Choir Concert @ SSMS *May 19-6th, 7th and 8th grade band Concert @ SSHS *May 28 & 29-SSMS middle school play “Sleeping Giant” held in the SSMS cafetorium. *May 29-8th grade raft trip *June 1-3- 8th grade portfolio presentations *June 3-8th grade graduation ceremony *June 3-EOS kayaking trip And Finally….. *June 5-Field Day and Last day of school! I really want to thank the great parent volunteers that regularly support us in our school. Without your help, our jobs would be much tougher. Thank you!

Read the book, 'Three Cups of Tea', and connect with other readers at this site. Reading the book 'Three Cups of Tea' will also connect you with author Greg Mortenson’s vision for peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan. After February break NJHS will begin a school wide "Pennies for Peace Drive". This penny collection service project will help support and maintain the building of schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the heart of Mortenson’s peace vision. Reading the book 'Three Cups of Tea' and participating in the BLOG will connect you to Greg Mortenson’s cause and will directly impact the success of the penny drive at SSMS.
