**Remember to clip and send in Box Tops for our Box Top Challenge!**

Our Middle East Mall Project is due on December 18th. The students are doing a
remarkable job of trading for goods they require and identifying natural
resources and industry in their designated countries.

After our Winter Break, we will move east to India to examine its culture,
history, and important figures.

Enjoy the time with your family!

The primary purpose of this social studies curriculum is to help students gain
knowledge of world geography, the physical and human characteristics of a
location, the way people and the environment affect each other, the way
people, goods, and ideas travel from place to place, and the areas of the
world that have common physical, human, or cultural characteristics. We will
examine these social studies themes through non-fiction and historical fiction
texts, periodicals, hands-on research projects, and class discussions. Our
studies will emphasize:

North Africa and Southwest Asia
Asia including India, China, and Japan
Africa south of the Sahara
Mexico, Central and South America
Australia, Oceania, and Antarctica
Current Events and Issues

My goal for this school year is to provide a safe and engaging working
environment for all students. We are all working together to make this a great
year!

With Happiness,
