Students in 2nd grade are expected to spend about 15 minutes per day on
homework. Your child will use his/her agenda every day to keep track of homework
assignments. Homework will be sent to reinforce skills that have been taught in school.
Though I will always go over the homework with the class, questions may arise once the
student gets home and sits down to do the assignment. Our morning always starts with
a review of homework. Your child will receive credit for homework as long as he/she has
made an effort. Some students enjoy extending an activity and choose to spend more
time. This is always to be encouraged. Sometimes a student may find an activity too
difficult or confusing. To avoid frustration, please allow your child to stop trying if at
least 15 minutes of time and effort have been spent. A parent signature and/or an
explanation of the problem written on the troublesome paper or in the child's agenda
will let me know that the skill needs to be retaught.
