September of 2007 begins Mr. Tracey's first year as a teacher. He comes to
teaching after more than 30 years in the workforce. His previous jobs
include UPS driver, custom woodworker, trainer, safety technician,
photographer and Army MP.
Mr. Tracey also has an associate degree in criminal justice that he earned
over 2 decades ago. He graduated in May of 2007 from Southern Connecticut
State University with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in biology. He
did his student teaching at West Haven High School in West Haven. He also
passed his praxis exam on the 1st try.
Mr. Tracey believes that a working knowledge of science is crucial for a
person in the 21st century and that science is at the root of several of the
important issues that face all of us as U.S. citizens and fellow
inhabitants on Earth.
People that Mr. Tracey have come to admire include Frank Serpico, Carl
Sagan, Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, Smedley Butler and just about anybody
working for peace and justice in a nonviolent way. Also, he is tired of
hearing from those who do not wish to use honesty, facts, and reasoning to
argue their position.
