Acceptable Use Policy

Janney Elementary School
Student Use Policy for Network Access

Students will use computers and the Internet for educational activities both
in the classroom and in the library under the supervision of the teacher or
the library media specialist. The computer network at Janney Elementary School
includes access and connections to computers, the Internet, and global
educational resources. We believe that this information access and
interaction promotes educational excellence and is consistent with the goals
of the school and the district.

The district employs the use of filters which limits access through the Janney
network. However, no filter is 100% effective. Efforts are taken to protect
students from inappropriate material but it is impossible to completely
protect the students from material that is not consistent with Janney’s
educational goals.

Your student also has responsibility while using the technology, computer, and
Internet at Janney. The use of the computers and the Internet is a privilege
and not a right. This privilege may be withdrawn as a result of inappropriate
use. Please read and discuss Janney’s Student Use Policy with your student.
It is important that your student understand his/her responsibilities as well
as the acceptable uses at Janney School.

Your student’s signature indicates that they accept the responsibility of
using the network and technology in an appropriate manner. Your signature
indicates that your have read and agree to our Use Policy. When you believe
that your student understands the rules, have them sign this form. Only when
your student returns this form with both their signature and yours, will they
be given access to the technology, computers, and Internet at Janney
Elementary School.

Please sign and return this sheet to your student’s classroom teacher.
