Parents,
In your child's Blue Folder, you will find a letter regarding Ticket-to-Read. Ticket-to-Read is an online program that is made up of different components that builds your child's literacy skills (phonics, phonemic awareness, reading, fluency, and vocabulary).
In the letter you will find your child's personal User ID and Password. Please keep this in a safe place so that they may log on whenever they have free time at home. We encourage and recommend that your child use Ticket-to-Read at least 2-3 times a week for 15-20 minutes to see the full benefit of the program.
We will be monitoring your child's use of the program and their progress, as well as print reports that detail their achievement. In addition, we will have a rotating schedule in place so that your child may use the program at least once a week in class.
We thank you for your support!

Parents,
This Friday, October 23rd, is our Field Trip to Cobb Theater in Miami Lakes to view “Where the Wild Things Are” (for those who are participating). Please remember that your child needs to bring a bagged lunch (no lunchboxes or containers) so that it is easily disposable. Students should wear their school uniform & arrive on time to school. We are leaving promptly at 9 a.m. and need to take care of attendance and housekeeping so it is imperative that they be here on time. Being that we will not be having lunch till after the movie, we ask that you make sure your child has a good breakfast that morning.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, we have been discussing a variety of Hispanic cultures and traditions as well as other cultures found in our society to increase the students’ multicultural awareness. In an effort to incorporate this in our classroom activities, we have asked the students to create a doll that represents their families’ cultural background. This doll can be made of cardboard, construction paper, card stock or any other material that can be displayed on its own. The doll should not be bigger than 12 inches or smaller than 6 inches. Ideas to include in the doll are: pictures, traditional dress or clothing, countries flag, and pictures of traditional foods. Students may wish to create two dolls if more than one country is part of their heritage. For students who do not have a Hispanic background, they are to create a doll that represents the culture of their family. Dolls should be created by the students’ representing themselves.
All dolls should be turned in on Friday, October 16, 2009. This project will be worth 2 Social Studies grades. There are no exceptions for dolls being turned in late. Letter grades will be dropped for late submissions (i.e. 1 day late S, 2 or more U).
This activity will be in lieu of the Language Arts portion of the Home Learning for the week of October 12-16th. This will provide you with sufficient time to help your child create a doll and have it turned in on the due date, which is Friday, October 16th.
Thank you for your cooperation

Parents,
We wanted to make some clarifications on the Home Learning.
- The sections marked N/A are ONLY for the Vocabulary Words. When we begin to assign Vocabulary Words, then you will complete these sections.
- Your child is to complete the sections for the Word of the Week. This would be writing the word 5 times on Monday & Tuesday, writing a sentence with the word on Wednesday, and highlighting the word on Thursday (if there is a poem provided on the front cover).
- Please read carefully the assigned Math Pages. If the assigned page is a CW page, it is already attached to the packet.
- Only complete the PW pages assigned for Math.
- If books read are not documented on the cover sheet, Home Learning will be marked Incomplete.
If there are any other questions or concerns, please let us know so that we may address them.
Thank You!

First and foremost we wanted to take the time to thank those of you who have "adopted" our class. We appreciate your efforts and are looking forward to buying supplies/materials/resources for the children.
Yesterday, in the Blue Bobcat Folder, you received a pink flyer for Papa John's Family Night. This is a school-wide fundraiser where we receive 20% for orders placed that night. In addition, the class that has the most orders placed will win a GRAND PRIZE of a PIZZA PARTY! We are a bit competitive & would really love for our class to win the Pizza Party. So tonight, make it a Pizza Night, and place your orders! Please remember to mention that this is for BOB GRAHAM & give them the teacher name TAMARGO. It makes it easier to track, since there is more than one Mansito in the school.
Thank you for your cooperation & support!
Parents,
The 2009-2010 Adopt-A-Classroom campaign is just underway! The program allows you, the parent, to "adopt" our class & make donations. 100% of your donations goes to us, the teacher, which we utilize to purchase resources for the classroom and students. You then receive personal feedback from us & the students as to how the funds are being used and how helpful they were to us.
If you would be interested in participating & adopting our class, please visit the following website and sign up!
http://www.adoptaclassroom.org
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs. Tamargo & Mrs. Mansito
Parents,
Tomorrow, Friday September 11, your child will be aloud to wear a RED, WHITE, or BLUE shirt to show their patriot pride as our school "remembers"...
Bottoms are to still be the standard uniform. No Jean Allowed.
Thank you for your support & participation!
Parents,
As per administration, if your child is Parent Pick-Up, the person picking them up is to stay in their car and wait in line. You were given a pink slip to write your child's name (first and last) on that is to be placed on the dashboard of your car. A teacher will call out your child's name and we will put your child in the car. By no means are you to skip the line, park your car, and get off. This blocks traffic and slows down dismissal. Please be aware that this is for your child's safety.
Thank you for cooperation.
