What is the best time to call you if I need to speak to you?
The best time to call us is during our planning time or after school.
Is there another way I can communicate concerns/questions?
Yes. You can send us an e-mail ( leal_mansito@dadeschools.net /
jestamargo@dadeschools.net) or send a note in your child's Blue Bobcat
Folder.
My child was absent. What should I do?
Upon your child's return to school, please send in a note (doctor's note or
handwritten by you)letting us know the reason for your child's absence.
Excused absences are only allowed in case of illness, death
in the family. An unexcused absence will be given if a note is not sent to
school within 2 days of the absence/s. Serious absenteeism will be referred
to administration for further review.
Please be advised that after the 10th absence, excused or unexcused, a
doctor's note is required for any absence there of.
What about tardies?
We encourage that all students be in school on time. A child
will be marked as tardy if they are not in class by 8:30 am. Please stop by
the office to get a tardy pass. Excessive tardiness will also be referred to
administration.
How should I send any type of payments or money to school with my child?
Please send money to school in a sealed envelope, write your child's name,
teacher name, amount, and what money is for on the envelope. Money not sent
in an envelope will not be accepted.
If sending money for lunch, we encourage you use the online system provided
at
www.dadeschools.net in the Parent Portal.
What is the policy for birthdays or celebrations?
No birthdays or any form of celebrations can be held in or out of the
classroom.
How can I volunteer in the classroom?
Parent Volunteers are welcome and extremely useful to us. If you are
interested, you must submit a School Volunteer form for approval. Once your
application is processed you will be given a volunteer number. Parents are
allowed to volunteer for no more than an hour a day. We will also ask
parents
to come in when there is an activity in class or if assistance is needed.
Can I walk my child to class?
As a result of the Jessica Lunsford Act (HB 1877), beginning with the 2007-
2008 school year, Bob Graham Education Center will maintain a closed
campus. Parents/guardians must drop off students in the designated drop off
areas.
What is the policy on bringing siblings to actvities?
Please be advised that if you are visiting the school due to an activity in
your child's classroom or volunteering, you are NOT allowed to bring a
sibling
or any other child that does not attend our school. Having children on
school
grounds that do not attend this school is a liability as well as a
distraction. There will be NO exceptions.
What should I do if I need to change the way my child goes home?
If you need to change your child's dismissal procedure, you must send a note
to us informing us of the change. If we do not hear from you, we send your
child home as indicated to us originally. We will not accept changes given
to
us by the child.
Where does my child go when he/she is droppd off in the morning?
Our class has been assigned numbers 17 under the P.E. Shelter.
Students who arrive to school before 8:15 a.m. should wait in line in a
quiet and orderly fashion. We will pick up the students at 8:20
a.m. each morning. Students who arrive to school after 8:20 a.m. should
proceed directly to our classroom, room 33.
Can my child bring a snack?
Our school has become part of a "Healthy Schools" pilot program. Therefore,
cookies, candy, chips or other snacks may not be distributed to other
students
in the class. Thank you for your cooperation.
