Respect. Responsibility. Honesty. Motivation.
Commitment to Character is the district model for character education. The goal of the program is to create a school culture that is saturated with such character qualities as respect, responsibility, honesty and self-motivation to promote high student achievement in a safe learning environment.
Character Kids!
CWE has a committee of administrators, teachers & parents to promote our "Commitment to Character" program. The Character Committee is working hard not only to enhance our childrens’ good character, but also to earn a “National School of Character” distinction for our school.
Outstanding character is recognized in two ways:
Monthly Recognition: homeroom teachers will continue to pick two-three students/month who exhibit excellent character. At the end of the month there will be a small 'rally' for those students.
Daily Recognition: Students who exhibit good character on any day will receive a token “key”. They will take their ‘character key’ to the front office where it will go into a daily drawing. Two students/day will be recognized on the morning announcements and then be awarded the very special honor of ringing the school bell the next day!
Character traits highlighted each month are:
August - Respect
September - Responsibility
October - Cooperation
November - Citizenship
December - Kindness
January - Self-Motivation
February - Tolerance
March - Honesty
April - Self-Control
May - Caring
June - Courage
July - Patriotism
