Course Description
The Art class offered at Pendleton is an introductory course covering art
concepts and techniques. Students actively engage in a guided investigation
of formal, creative, and conceptual aspects of art within a studio
environment. Designed principally for students with little or no experience
in art, students will learn to make, interpret and discuss art. No previous
experience in art is required.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
1. Draw a convincing representation of reality
2. Develop a sketchbook and image bank for idea generation and creative
thinking
3. Demonstrate an understanding of composition and design
4. Mix and apply color using color theories and models presented in class
5. Creatively solve problems to assignments both individually and within a
group
6. Use and understand art terminology in class discussions and critiques
7. Expand image literacy and criticality through the interpretation of
works of art
