COURSE DESCRIPTION
French I is an introduction to French. Students
will develop basic listening, reading, writing and speaking skills
in French, while exploring the rich cultural heritage of the
French world.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
For all levels of language instruction:
� Encourage the study of languages
� Help students take a more active approach to
language study, setting goals and choosing study strategies
� Help students develop discipline in language study
� Build a good balance of language skills
Language skills:
1. Stronger in listening than speaking
2. Stronger in reading than writing
3. Larger receptive vocabulary than productive vocabulary
4. Stronger knowledge of vocabulary than of grammar
COURSE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
In order to maintain an optimal learning
environment for all students it is important that you show respect
for the teacher, the other students and yourself. The guidelines in
both the IMG and Pendleton handbooks are followed at all times. It
is especially important to be on time and prepared for every class.
Please bring your laptop, notebook, and school supplies to each
class.
Keeping current in your assignments is crucial. Notify me in advance
of your absence and we will work to complete your assignments before
you depart. You are to monitor your own progress, using the
assignment web site, and arrange for additional help or enrichment
as needed.
