About The Teacher

As I am interested to know all about you, here is a little bit about me.

This will be my third year teaching at The Pendleton School. I also taught
previously in the Manatee County school system.

I attended Hollins College in Roanoke, Virgina where I earned my BA degree
in Political Science. From there I returned home to Florida and worked in
a statewide gubernatorial campaign, then on to Washington, DC to work in the
world of politics. This included the Reagan-Bush '84 campaign in the
National Headquarters.

At this point I returned home to Bradenton, Florida where I was born and
raised. I was able to continue my studies at the University of South
Florida in the education program. I completed my internship at Sarasota
High School, where I was able to use my experience in campaigns and
politics, in teaching American Government.

In 1990 my husband accepted a position in Warsaw, Poland working with
Marriott Hotels. The Berlin Wall had just fallen and Eastern Europe was
changing. I was able to witness "history in the making", which was a life
changing experience.

After the birth of our daughter, Tekla, we returned home, closer to our
family, where we have been raising her.

It is a privilege to have been given the opportunity to teach at The
Pendleton School and I am looking forward to the school year.

Mission For The Class

In learning about American Government, one important goal is to discover how
government relates to us in our own world. My goal is not only to have the
students learn about the basics of American Government, but also how the
process of government affects our daily lives. What is "government" and how
is it important to the society that we live in. More importantly does our
involvement in the governmental process really make a difference.
