About the Teacher

Greetings Students and Parents-

I am a firm believer that education is the key to opportunity. Every significant experience in my life can be linked, in some way, to my education. It is my hope to help students realize what life has to offer them, if they choose to be dedicated to educating themselves.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Broad Field Science from Georgia State University (2001), a Master of Science in Technical and Professional Communication from Southern Polytechnic State University (2003), and soon...a doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. So... not only do I love teaching, I equally enjoy learning!

I have always known that I wanted to become a teacher. Initially, I thought I would teach english; but a terrific biology professor changed my mind! I have been teaching for eight years. I began in 2001 at Sprayberry High School, where I taught biology and human anatomy & physiology. The next year,  I transferred to CHS. I have taught a variety of courses here including physical science, botany, genetics, and chemistry - which is my favorite of all the sciences! In addition to my teaching duties, I am the advisor for EPIC-Campbell High School's Yearbook.

I spend my summers working for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. This is a ten-day summer program for high-achieving high school students from across the country who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine. I have worked as a Faculty Advisor for the program in Atlanta at Emory University, Washington, DC at Georgetown University, and Boston at Babson College. This summer I  held the position of Program Coordinator for the San Francisco forum at the University of California-Berkeley. In this position, I  was responsible for all educational components of the forum and for managing the forum staff. This experience taught me quite a bit that I will be sharing with all of you throughout the semester.

Outside of teaching, I worked for a short while as a real estate agent and property manager. I enjoyed the work, but it didn't compare to teaching, so ultimately, I chose to remain in the high school classroom.

On a personal level, I am not, nor have I ever been married, I have no children and no pets! Contrary to the text of this bio, I am not all work. In my spare time I like to work out, read, dance, and write. (Okay, so maybe that sounds like work, but it's really not). Thanks for reading.

Let's have a great semester!
