Thank you so much for entrusting me with your child's personal and
educational growth this year. This is an important year for our fifth
graders. They are now the big kids of DEMA and the role models of our
school. I can't tell you how excited I am about sharing this adventure with
them.
Throughout my teaching career, I've taught first, third and fifth grades.
Each year has brought new and exciting opportunities for me to watch my kids
learn about themselves and the world around them. I feel it's my job to give
them the academic tools and self confidence to explore their world and their
places within it. It's a wonderful job!!
This is my third year as a member of the family here at Downtown Elementary
Magnet Academy. I've also taught at South Columbus Elementary and a smaller
school in Gainesville, Florida. I hold a master's degree from the University
of Florida. Yes, I will begin brainwashing your child to LOVE THE GATORS
beginning the first day of school. Get over it all you Dogs!!
(Hey if they're talking about colleges in the fifth grade, we're on the
right track!!!)
I've been happily married for 13 years and am the delighted mother of two
energetic girls. Before becoming an elementary school teacher, I spent four
years working as a newspaper reporter in Tampa, Winter Haven and Bradenton,
Florida. Writing for newspapers gave me the opportunity to meet people from
every walk of life and to appreciate the differences that make us all gifted
individuals.
One of my most valued keys to success in my classroom is great communication
