I grew up in the outskirts of Spartanburg, South Carolina and lived there
until we moved to Georgia 3 years ago.
I was inspired by my 8th grade English teacher to become an
educator. She challenged me and pushed me to go beyond and made everything
fun at the same time. She never let me get away with less than my best. She
was tough! I owe a lot to that fine teacher.
I went on to graduate from Converse College with a double major in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education. I received my masters degree in
Elementary Education with a certification in Gifted Education. In 2004, I
earned National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist (grades
3-6). I am currently working towards my EdS degree and I plan to continue
college for further degrees. I taught at Fairforest Elementary for five
years in the fourth grade and at Sarah Smith Elementary in Buckhead.
On a personal note, my husband and I love to do anything in the outdoors.
We are avid hikers, campers, and rock climbers. We often take our pet
Chihuahua, Bruce, with us. You wouldn't think a little dog would be a great
hiker- but he is! I love to bake, decorate cakes, dance, and I am teaching
myself to sew. Books are a passion of mine and would rather buy a book than
eat- what a great diet! :)
Current endeavors- My Doctorial degree, writing children's books,cake
decorating, ballroom dancing, and preparing for my second year as ALT.
I look forward to working with everyone.
