Writing Strategies
At Rocky Mount we use the 6+1 Trait writing model for our writing
instruction. This model allows time for prewriting, drafting, revising,
editing and publishing. The traits included in this model are:
Ideas: a clear point, The theme or message of the story
Organization: How the writing is structured, how it fis organized and flows
Voice: How the writer is able to make their own voice come through in the
writng.
Word Choice: The laguage used by the author. The ability to use the most
appropriate word that will give a clear picture to the reader.
Sentence Fluency: The sound of the writing as it is read.
Conventions: Correct use of grammar, punctuation, capitalization and
spelling.
