Hello, I’m Stephanie Wilkinson.
I’m your teacher.
Here’s a little about me.
Birthday: December 30
Too close to Christmas! That’s what I say. I’m one of those people who
always got one present at the end of December that said “Happy Birthday and
Merry Christmas.” My secret wish? A September birthday!
College: University of Alabama
Roll Tide! It wasn’t long ago when I was a student just like you. I attended
Alabama and earned degrees in Public Relations and Political Science and a
Masters of Arts in Elementary Education.
Thing to do: Laugh
I love to laugh. It’s easy to make me laugh. I’m always happy. Promise. No
time to be unhappy. Everyone better get their smile on.
Food: Mexican
Anything Mexican, especially fish tacos. Mmm. A soft tortilla filled with
grilled tilapia, smothered in cilantro Cole slaw and fresh salsa makes me a
happy girl!
Pastime: Spinning
When I’m not teaching the cool kids at Sarah Smith, I teach spinning to big
kids — adults! Spinning is a form of exercise you get by riding a stationary
bicycle to music in a dark room. We ride fast and long so we can grow up to
be big and strong! (Hee hee.) Did you know that Mr. Settelmayer is a Spinning
instructor, too? (But I’m better than he is. Don’t tell anyone I said so.)
Pet: Boo and Rose! My kitties!
My babies are sooo cute! Boo turned 10 in April. He’s a black, male Persian
cat. I call my Boo lots of names, like Bear, Old Man, Mr. Boo and Boo Boo. He
loves to sleep. Less than 22 hours of rest per day makes Boo a grumpy old
man! Then there’s Rose. She’s a seal point Siamese mix. I think she’s about a
year old. I rescued little Rosie when she was just a baby, so I’m not sure
when she was born. Rose loves attention. That little girl’s always up to
something. Sometimes she gets playful at bedtime and bothers Boo and me.
We’re still trying to teach her about manners.
Book: To Kill a Mockingbird
My favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I bet I’ve read it
15 times! Did you know Harper Lee is from Monroeville, Alabama? And that she
was a friend of Truman Capote?
Movie: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The star of the movie is Audrey Hepburn, one of my favorite actors. When I
was a little girl, I wanted to be Audrey Hepburn. It’s true! Breakfast at
Tiffany’s was filmed in New York City. My first job was with Food and Wine
magazine, and I lived in New York City in the West Village of Manhattan, and,
finally, I got to be a little like Audrey!
Color: Blue
My favorite color is blue. Powder blue. Baby blue. Sky blue. Cobalt blue. I
love blue, and it matches my eyes! (Wink wink.) I love anything blue but the
color blue of an Auburn jersey.
Sport: Football
My favorite sport is football. Strap on those helmets, boys! Football season
is almost here. Hooray! Of course I cheer for Alabama, but I always root for
SEC schools, especially Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. And I’m a hometown
girl. I always pull for the Jackets.
My IB profile word: Caring
I’m a caretaker, by nature. I like to take care of people and animals, and I
like it best when everyone’s happy. My mom says I’ve always been that way. I
like it when everyone’s smiling. That’s why I try to make class fun. We’ve
got lots to learn, and learning new stuff isn’t always easy, but it’s always
more enjoyable when it’s fun. You’re going to love 4th grade! Just you wait
and see.
