Welcome back! I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
This time of year is so much fun and we are really looking forward to the
next three weeks.

This week we are learning about different customs around the world. Today we
visited Holland and tomorrow we will visit Israel. We also
made "passports" and are stamping them with each new country that visit.

Don't forget about Movie Night this Friday. It's going to be a lot of fun
for the children and it's also a great way to raise money for Relay for
Life. Information was sent home in your child's folder but please let us
know if you have any questions.

Now that the weather is getting cooler, please be sure to send a jacket with
your child each day. It is also a good idea to make sure your child's name
is on the label. You'd be amazed at how many nice coats end up in the lost
and found.

This week we will learn about the following:

Theme: Customs Week
Letter: I
Sight word: see
(sight words are words that should be instantly recognizable
without the child having to phonetically sound them out)

We are continuing to work hard on our handwriting skills, including proper
formation of upper and lower case letters as well as numbers. We are
already seeing so much progress!

Don't forget to let us know if you're going on a trip and would like to take
Flat Stanley. If there are several requests for the same time period, Flat
Stanley will go with the child who requested him first. He has already been
to Boston, the Dominican Republic, Tennessee, Warm Springs, Georgia, and
Naples, Florida. Stanley is looking forward to many more trips!

Please help your child learn to tie his/her shoes (if needed). Many of our
children are still working on this skill and practice makes perfect.

Please remember that transportation changes must be made in writing and sent
in your child's folder. While I try check my e-mail during the school day,
it is not always possible to do it before the children leave for the day.
Because of this, please do not e-mail changes in transportation.

All communication will be sent home via your child's folder so it is
important to check it daily.

Our class goes to P.E. every Thursday and Friday. Please be sure that your
child wears tennis shoes so that he/she will be able to participate.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or
comments about your child. I believe that good communication between
parents and teachers is very important and I want you to feel that you can
come to me about anything. Remember to include the apostrophe in my name if
you choose to send an e-mail (Lisa.O'Driscoll@cobbk12.org)
