Scripp's National Spelling Bee
Forest Ridge Academy participated in the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee this year, and was represented by 8th grader Camrin, who fell just short of earning a coveted trip to Washington, D.C. Camrin advanced through the district spelling bee on February 25th, before finishing in 8th place at the regional bee on March 3rd. Forest Ridge’s participation began back in January, when all students in grades 3 through 8 competed in classroom spelling bees. The top two spellers in each grade then advanced to face off in the gymnasium on January 23rd to determine the school champion. We are proud of Camrin and all of our spellers, and look forward to participating in the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee once again next year!

Middle School Students Are Awe-Inspiring- Again!
FRA Middle School Students competed in the District Level, We the People Congressional Hearing at Indiana University Northwest. Students, under the guidance of Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Labovic worked diligently, preparing for this Constitutional competition since the beginning of school year. Their hard work paid off as they returned to school as champions and a welcoming circle of the entire student body cheering them on! On December 17th the FRA Middle School students won second place in the We the People State Competition in Indianapolis. One of our six teams also won the best unit score. Among twelve district winners from all parts of Indiana, our students participated in a grueling competition that lasted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A flurry of tough questions after tough questions came from the panel of judges, but each team showed off their knowledge of the US Constitution, engaging in thought-provoking discussions. One of the judges commented that he did not know where FRA is, but he will be sure to check us out after our students' brilliant performance. We are extremely proud of all of you. Congratulations!!
