Our Spring Band Trip for 2008 will take us, once again, to the Great East
Festival. The Great East Festival is a regional fetival with bands, orchestras
and choruses coming from the northeast states to two different locations(Six
Flags New England and Canopie Lake). Each location has many sites where
musical groups perform for a rating. The Six Flags location alone has at least
10 different schools and colleges that host the competition in theri
auditoriums.
We will be one of thousands of groups that will be participating during the
months of May and June.
Our festival date is Friday, May 23rd. Students will be excused from school
that day in ordwer to perfrom at West Springfield High School at 8:30 AM.
After our performance we will receive a clinic, presented by one of the
adjudicators, and then receive our rating : platinum, gold, silver or bronze.
Students will then spend the day/evening at Six Flags New England along with
hundreds of other students who have participated in the festival on that day.
It is a great day for our kids to interact with other students with sililar
interests.
