•Lessons start the week of September 15, 2007.
•Before School groups will start in October.
Before school groups meet from 8:45 am till 9:15 am.
Mon.-Advanced Band Tues.-Chamber Strings
Wed.-Chamber Band Thurs.-Rhythm Section
Fri.-Advanced Strings
Students are chosen for the above groups by how many of the 21 solos
they have passed. Students must pass song #30 to be in Chamber Strings.
•Twenty One Solos-how the system works:
-Students start with songs #1-#7. When they pass #7 they are given
songs #8-#14. When they pass #14 they are given songs #15-#21.
-Students must play (practice) a song at least 10 times before being
tested on it. Each time the student plays a song he/she should put a tally
mark at the top of the page. For songs above #10 students must practice the
song as many times as the song number (e.g. song #15 must have 15 tally
marks before the student can be tested).
-To pass a song the student may make no more than one mistake. If
the student makes two or more mistakes they must practice more at home and
may be tested their next class period.
•Classes are held two times per week. They will miss one music class and one
P.E. class.
•All county auditions are held in September for strings and in January-
February for band. Students can prepare by practicing scales and sight
reading. Usually students must have passed all 21 solos to be recommended
to audition for county groups.
