Please be sure that your child brings home their Friday Letter each week.
That's where I put your child's behavior chart for the week, the weekly poem
to practice, homework and a letter about what's going on in our room.
In science, we work on our Solids and Liquids Science Kit in the fall. First we
learn about the attributes of solids such as color, shape, roll or stack, sink
or float, and magnetic or non-magnetic. Then we start our liquids portion
where we work with miscibility (ability to mix with other liquids), surface
tension, and viscosity (thickness of a liquid).
In March we get our Insects Kit. We will care for mealworms, painted
lady butterfly caterpillars and waxworms. This will enable us to see the
similarities and differences of insects.
All year long we will do weather to get familiar with temperature, cloud
cover, precipitation and change of seasons.
In math, we will be having a page of homework most days from now on. These
should take 10 minutes or less. Please check your child's work when s/he
finishes and help her/him understand any mistakes and have your child fix
them. This helps your child learn even more. Thanks!
