Announcements

March is Reading Month

Our theme this year at Randall is . . .

Reading Across Michigan

Here are some of the activities that have been planned for the month . . .

1 ~ Classroom Displays

Every classroom will choose a city in Michigan and decorate outside their
classrooms.
We will have a contest for the best display.

2 ~ Reading Contest

On Monday, March 2nd, students will take home a reading log to keep track of
the minutes that they read each day at home. Students will turn in the log
to their teacher, signed by their parent on Monday, March 9th. The teacher
will keep track of the total minutes read for her class. Mrs. Patts will
place the amount of hours for each class on a bar graph outside the Library.
Then on Monday, March 9th, the process will start over for the next week in
March. Four reading logs will go home for the four weeks in March. Please
encourage your child to read every night and on the weekends too! The
winning classroom will win a party! The top reader in each classroom will
receive a prize too!

3 ~ Family Read-IN

On Monday, March 16th we are having a “Randall Family Read In”.
Families are invited to Randall from 6:00-7:30 pm to read in the hallways.
Grab a blanket and some good books and settle in for an evening of READING –
Family Style!
(Hot dogs, chips, water & juice will be for sale. Information to follow on
this activity.

4 ~ Book Exchange

Students may bring in up to 5 gently used books throughout the month of March
to exchange for other gently used books. Students will receive a coupon from
Mrs. Patts for each donated book to use for the exchange. If students want to
donate more than 5 books to help with the selection, they may.
