from 1801 to 1809. In 1776,
during the revolutionary war,
Thomas Jefferson wrote the
Declaration of Independence. He
wrote: �All men are created
equal� This is the basic belief
of the Declaration of
Independence.

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th
president. He was president of
the U.S. from 1861-1865 during
the civil war.
