Who may check out library materials?
Any student kindegarten through eighth grade, any teacher or
staff member, or any parent may check materials out of our
collection. For parents, we will place the check out in the name
of your student.
How many items may be checked out at a time?
We ask students to take just a single item. Under special
circumstances, this rule can be considered flexible. For
example, permission would be granted if a student needed extra
materials for a research project in addition to their private
reading.
Does the library charge late fees?
No. The only money the library collects is payment for lost or
damaged materials. Even though the overdue notices have a dollar
amount listed on them, that money is only payable when the book is
damaged or lost.
What is the library's loan duration?
By default, loans are made for the period of two weeks.
Is my student really in 'big trouble' when a library book is lost?
Students aren't in trouble when a book is lost or damaged, but
his/her parents will be contacted and asked to pay the book's
replacement cost. Our students are treated fairly and respectfully
even when a library book is damaged.
Can I volunteer to read to my student's class?
Yes, we'd like you to volunteer. Please contact your student's
teacher and learn whether they need more help; you could also
call me to find out, (651) 768-3053.
Can I volunteer to service checkouts and reshelve books?
Absolutely. Our library functions well because several dedicated volunteers
work diligently with me to staff and maintain it. We are always looking to
add more energetic volunteers. Your help would be enormously appreciated.
