Reading Journal Response Questions

1. After reading, I wonder...

2. Are the characters realistic? Why or Why not?

3. Which character would you like to meet? Why? What questions would you ask?

4. Describe the most important event in the reading today? Why is that the most important?

5. Describe what was believable or unbelievable about your reading. Why do you feel that way?

6. How are you the same as the main character? How are you different?

7. Describe your least favorite character. Why?

8. How did today's reaidng make you feel? Explain.

9. Are you enjoying what you are reading? Why?

10. Draw four symbols that represent what you read for today. Write a caption for each symbol and explain why you chose those objects.

11. If you could be a character in the book who would you be? Why?

12. If you could talk to the author what would you say?

13. Describe 3 problems that the main character has faced. Which was most difficult? Why?

14. Predict what happens next...what makes you think so?

15. Your book is being made into a movie; create a poster for the movie in your journal.

16. Tell me about your favorite book- Make me want to read it!

17. Think about what you read for today. Draw a picture of the images in your mind.

18. What lessons about life has this book taught you?

19. Discuss the title of your book- does it fit the story?

20. Write about a how one of the characters feels. Support your thoughts iwht events from the book.

21. Imagine you are the author- would you change anything? Are there parts you would like to understand better? What questions do you need answered?

22. Write a friendly letter to the main character What advice might you give? (be sure to use letter writing skills).
