Kindergarten will be assessed on animal vocabulary. First graders will learn
about tropical fish of the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, and will start to
make tropical fish tanks. Second grade will learn about families in Spanish-
speaking countries.
19 y 22 de mayo
Kindergarten: matching, drawing, labeling with animal and adjective
vocabulary. First: drawing animals en la granja (the farm) and labeling
animals. Second: drawing el arbol de la familia (family tree) and labeling.
12 y 15 de mayo
Kindergarten will finish learning new animal vocabulary and have some writing
and drawing practice. We will work more with the adjectives grande, mediano,
y pequeno and will group the animales this way.
First grade is finishing the lesson on animals and will discuss how
animals "sound" different to Spanish speakers than to English speakers. For
example "clo-clo-clo" instead of "cluck cluck cluck".
Second grade will continue learning family word vocabulary.
Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
Today commemorates the battle at Puebla in 1862 when the Mexican citizens
beat the French soldiers. It was a battle fought and won against the odds,
which makes it a celebration of patriotism. The Mexicans did not earn their
independence until years later (Independence Day is September 16). Students
will learn some of the history of Cinco de Mayo.
On May 8, Kindergarten will learn more animal vocabulary. First graders are
working with the verb tener. Second graders are learning family word
vocabulary.
