Homework

All-day kindergarten gives children a chance to fully explore our
kindergarten curriculum in a less-rushed format than the half-day. However,
it can be a long day for the children. Therefore, the children will not be
given much work to do outside the school day. Each week, the children will
be introduced to a new guided reading book during our learning center time.
The book will then be sent home to be read to parents. Please return these
books to school the next day! In addition, they will be taking home small
copied versions of our high-frequency readers. While I encourage you to read
these copied books with your child, you are welcome to keep these books at
home.

Periodically, other homework will be given. You will receive notice of this
homework in the weekly newsletter and your child is usually given several
days to complete this work.

The best homework for your child is nightly reading. Whether you are reading
to your child or having him practice his reading, daily reading is a must!
