Mrs. Madden's Kindergarten Korner |
Week in Review
Students developed phonological awareness of the consonant /g/g. We read The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdone as well as other versions of this classic Norwegian folktale. Students responded to this story through story mapping, the sequencing of story events, writing activities, and several dramatic retellings of the tale using props and masks. Students made their own troll and goat puppet dioramas so they can retell the story at home. Math: Our class concluded our study of the numbers 6-10. Students used grouping strategies to study the numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10. They used their handwriting skills to write these numbers. Students ordered groups of 6-10 objects and numbers. Religion: We learned that at Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We read the story of Jesus’ birth and engaged in a whole-class reenactment of the first Christmas. Students created their own Nativity scenes. Learning Centers: Three Billy Goats Gruff, Christmas, Counting |
