Sight Words

What exactly are "sight words?"

These are words that good readers should instantly recognize without
having to "figure them out." They are high frequency words that are repeated
often in books and print. Learning these words will help students become
more fluent readers and writers. We will learn 1 or 2 words per week. Each
week the words will be added to our Word Wall in our classroom. The Word
Wall is highly visible while students are working at their tables. The
children will be able to use the wall while writing in their journals.
During the week we will do a variety of activities with our words. We will
write them on our dry erase boards, play games, look for them in big books,
use them predictable charts and more.
