What special education services does Saint Ambrose offer?

St. Ambrose has a full time K-5 special education resource teacher and a part-
time 6-8 special education resource teacher. The resource teachers pull
students for small group intervention and instruction, collaborate with
parents and general education teachers on how to best meet the students
needs, and work with the local public school district to set-up needed
services through them, such as speech, occupational therapy, and physical
therapy.

What is a 504 plan?

A 504 plan is a legal document falling under the provisions of the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973. It is designed to plan a program of instructional
services to assist students with special needs who are in a regular education
setting. A 504 plan is not an Individualized Education Program (IEP) as is
required for special education students. However, a student moving from a
special education to a regular education placement could be placed under a
504 plan. Cleveland Heights Teachers Union

A student with a physical or emotional disability, or who is recovering
from a chemical dependency, or who has an impairment (i.e. Attention Deficit
Disorder) that restricts one or more major life activities can be considered
for a 504. Cleveland Heights Teachers Union

What is an IEP?

The IEP, Individualized Education Program, is a written document that's
developed for each public school child who's eligible for special education.
The IEP is created through a team effort and reviewed at least once a year.
Before an IEP can be written, your child must be eligible for special
education. By federal law, a multidisciplinary team must determine that (1)
she's a child with a disability and (2) she requires special education and
related services to benefit from the general education
program. -Schwablearning.org

Does Saint Ambrose offer IEPs?

Saint Ambrose offers Educational Plans or EPs. When a student qualifies for
special education services the team (parents, teachers, and special
educators) meet and develop an EP for the student. An EP is very similar to
IEP. It consists of annual goals, service time, and accommodations and
modifications.
