What if I let my friend borrow my book and they don't return it?

Any book that is checked out to you is your responsibility. If
your friend
loses the book while it is still checked out to you, you have to
pay the
fine. The best rule of thumb is never to loan a book when it is
still
checked out in your name. Always turn it in and tell your friend
to get it
from the library.

What if a book gets damaged while it is checked out to me, but I didn't do it?

If any damage occurs to a book while it is checked out to you,
not matter if
the damage was caused by a friend, your sibling, or another
relative, you
have to pay the fine for the damage. While a book is checked out
to you, it
is your responsibility, no one else's.
