My name is Bernice Seaman, and I provide small group Reading and Math
instruction for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
My years in education are almost too numerous and too varied to count. I
have had classroom teaching experience in parochial and public schools in
seven different states and have taught pre-k through 5th grade as well as
gifted and talented students. In addition, my experiences include working
as a Reading assistant, Special Education assistant, and as an assistant in
a self-contained classroom for students with autism.
That experience, in particular, as well as some Codington students and
staff and New Hanover County District leaders, inspired me to attend UNCW
and obtain my Special Education (LD) teacher certificate in 2006. I also
hold a North Carolina Elementary Education (K-6) teacher certificate and
have completed several graduate courses in Gifted and Talented.
This begins my 6th year at Codington, and I look forward to another
year of working with the very best administration, staff, and students.
My mission is to provide opportunities for my students to verbalize what
they know and what they don't know, explain their thinking, share their
ideas, learn with, and teach their peers.
My goal is for lessons to be relevant. Students should be able to make
connections to what's going on in their classrooms.
