8:00 First Morning Bell
8:20 Second Bell -instruction begins
******FYI******
If anyone could donate glue sticks for the class/ baby wipes that would be
wonderful! Thank you!

Interims will be going home Friday October 30th. If your child is on grade or
above grade level in all subject areas then he/she will not received an
interim.

We made applesauce on Friday and it was awesome!!! Thank you so much for all
the donations and a special thanks to our parent volunteers who came to help.
I will be putting up pictures from our applesauce making very soon. Please be
on the lookout for those.

Please remember that on November 11th we will not be in school due to
Veteran’s Day Holiday. Wednesday November 18th students should wear red for
courage and Friday November 20th is school spirit day and students are
supposed to wear their favorite scarf. Report cards will go home Wednesday
November 25th and Thursday November 26 begins the Thanksgiving holiday break
and track-out.

This week in reading, each story we read was about best friends and how you
can be pen pals with someone when you move away. I have paired up with
another first grade teacher and we are creating some pen pals all of our own.
The children that we will be writing to are from South Africa. I have shown
the students their classroom website so that they have a little bit of an
idea of whom and where they are writing to. This should be a very neat
experience for everyone. We continue to write daily however, you may have
noticed not as many writing samples are going home and that’s because I am
holding on to them until we publish them. I am now letting the students pick
which stories they want to publish and which ones they would not like to
publish. Eventually they will all be sent home. In math, we are working with
and understanding tens and ones. They have been showing two digit numbers by
drawing Make 10 Sticks and circles (ones). After they show the number with
Make 10 Sticks and circles they then build a number sentence. For instance,
for the number 98 they would write the equation
90 +8=98. When drawing the number 98 they would have drawn nine sticks and
eight circles beside the sticks. We will be working in this unit for a few
more weeks.

Specials Schedule for July 7th-July 24th is as follows:
Monday-PE
Tuesday-Spanish
Wednesday-Media
Thursday-Art
Friday-Music

Early Release Wednesdays
Every Wednesday students will be released at 2:00 p.m. If interested
afterschool care will be provided for a fee through the Afterschool Program.
