FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How often is the website updated? Typically, the website is updated weekly. However, please remember the website is always 'under construction.' May I pop in to talk with you during school hours? I would love to talk with you and look forward to our time together. However, from 8:00am - 3:15pm, my first priority is to the students in my class. Unless a scheduled conference or phone call has been arranged, please email, send a note, or leave a message at the front desk. I will be in touch with you at my earliest convenience. :-) May I join my child for lunch? I encourage you to have lunch with your child. Please meet us outside the cafeteria. (There is a waiting area next to the art room.) After lunch, please say goodbye in the hallway as we will resume our learning immediately after lunch. :-) May I send a treat for my child's birthday? We love to celebrate birthdays. Birthday treats must be store-bought. You may send them into the classroom and we will pass them out at the end of lunch. What if my child needs to go home a different way? Please send a note if your child will be going home a different way than usual. You may also call the front office and they will notify me of the change. Otherwise, your child will be sent home the 'normal'way. If my child is out of school, do I need to send a note? Yes, any time your child is absent, please send a note documenting the reason for the absence. Your child will have two days for each day absent to complete makeup work. If my child forgets his homework, may we come to get it after school? Please see Homework Policy. Can students bring toys and games from home? Students should not bring personal items, such as toys and games, to school. Students will have a sharing time once each week and may bring an item to share during this time. However, the item must be returned and kept in the bookbag throughout the day. May students keep water bottles on their desk? Yes, I encourage students to keep a water bottle on his/her desk. Should the water bottle become a distraction and/or interfere with learning, the student will be asked to remove the bottle until responsible choices can be made. Will students have snack each day? Yes, a working snack time will be provided daily. Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks. Candy, soda, and other sweets are highly discouraged. A classroom snack bin will be available in the event a students forgets his/her snack. Students may use the classroom snack bin once per week. |
