Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. Homework should take between 30
minutes to one hour to complete. The assigned activities are an extension and
practice of the day's lessons. Please sign the agenda and reading log daily.
Depending upon your child's independence level, s/he may require more
assistance. Gradually work toward helping your child become an independent
worker and seeking help as needed. Remember, homework is not expected to be
perfect, but should reflect a general understanding of the practiced skill.
Returning to the classroom to retrieve forgotten homework and/or supplies is
discouraged. Instead your child may call a classmate to get the assignments
or do an activity in place of the forgotten homework. For example, s/he may
complete math assignments, work on Study Island, write sentences with spelling
words, write a letter to me, or another appropriate activity. This activity
will be accepted until the original assignment is completed the following
night. Students will not be penalized for forgotten homework if s/he is
responsible and completes an alternate activity instead.
