When is homework due back to school?

Homework goes home every Monday in the Monday bag. It is due back by
Wednesday of that same week. Please make sure you return it inside the
folder which goes inside the Jumbo Monday Bag.

Am I allowed to volunteer in the classroom?

Yes! We love volunteers. First you must register through Wake County
volunteer registration, which you have to do on a computer at school. Then
you will be notified when your clearance is approved. I will conduct a
volunteer workshop with parents before you begin volunteering in the room.
This will happen around late October or early November. Look for it in the
Newsletters.

Will my child need to learn to read in kindergarten?

Yes, unless they are already reading. Our reading goal for kindergarten is
for all students to be on level 3-4 with a reading accuracy of 90-94% and a
retelling score 3.

Will my child be challenged if they are already reading?

Yes! We work closely with the AG teacher and our grade level to plan
lessons appropriately for all levels.

What can I do at home to help my child?

Read! Read! Read! Read to them and let them read to you, even if they can
only use the pictures to tell the story. Read the environmental print when
you are out. The grocery store is filled with print. The more you read,
discuss and question, the more successful your children will be in all areas.
