The Windham Middle School Offers many programs in counseling, we offer both
individual and group counseling in many different areas:
-Social Skills
-Friendship issues

-Grief
-Academic
-Substance Abuse
-Abuse and Neglect
-Organization
-Anxiety
-Depression
...

In addition to individual and group counseling we have a variety of peer
programs these include:

-Peer Mediation:Trains students that are selected by their peers and
teachers to help their fellow classmates work through their disputes. These
students are trained to learn empathy, listening skills and to remain
neutral through the mediation.

-Peer Helpers: are students who meet with other peers in their school
and play games, work on homework, share their challenges and triumphs.

-Peer Assistants: These students are nominated by their teachers and trained
by the guidance department. They take weekly trips down to Golden Brook
School and Center School where they pair up with individual students have
lunch together, play games, chat and most importantly have fun.

-The Ignite Program: is a program for seventh and eighth graders who are
choosen to mentor the 6th grade students.
The seventh and eighth graders are involved in a 8 hour summer training
session here at the middle school. This year it was a success!
Once a month the mentors attend meetings at school and then go into
their mentees class and engage in a group activity that involves the entire
class. After the activity the mentors meet with their mentees to check in
and catch up. The mentors also check in with their mentees on a weekly basis
through school, email or phone calls.
